Diatomaceous Earth
Diatomite; is a mineral that is formed by the fossilization of single-celled microscopic algae called diatoms and contains plenty of silica. It has a wide range of uses from filtration to filling material.
It is an excellent filtration material, especially with its amorphous and porous structure. Due to its inert feature due to its high silica content, it does not interact chemically with the filtered products and does not deteriorate the product properties.
Our diatomite is a highly porous white (flux calcined DE) or pink (calcined DE) powder, which is marketed under the trade name Clarcel®.
Our filter aid products are highly efficient with porosity conducive to excellent clarification and low-compressibility cakes for longer filtration cycles.
Applications
- As filter-aid in the filtration of sugar syrups (glucose, fructose and beet sugar),
- Alcoholic (wine, beer) and non-alcoholic beverage filtration,
- Automotive and metallurgy for the filtration of metalworking fluids, such as cutting and rolling oils.
- In vegetable oil filtration,
- As functional mineral additives in many applications that include paint and coatings, the plastics industry and in paper manufacture.
